Sabra is the Moroccan name for a silky yarn often called “cactus silk” or “vegan silk”. It is not silk from silkworms: the word describes its sheen and its smooth, fluid feel. Traditionally associated with the fibres of the agave, sabra today is often a plant-based viscose with the same look. Sabra cushions are woven by hand, mainly around Fez and Marrakech.
